Dear Mr. Brandon Weiss, We have just moved in to our new home.  We absolutely love all the features of the home, and the layout.  At first, we were hesitant about purchasing a spec home, but as we have lived in it, we have come to realize how well it was planned and laid out.  We specifically admire all of the detail work in the home.  We can tell the house was built by terrific craftsmen with the trim work, flooring, and other architectural elements. We also appreciate how quickly you completed the minor work we wanted done before our move in.  The color changes to the bedrooms and the master bath made our home feel like it was built for us.   The fact that you came back after our move in and retouched some of our scuffs was also unexpected and appreciated. Your personable nature was refreshing.  We enjoyed our walk through, and were happy to find a manual with the instructions for the mechanical equipment and appliances.  We also found it helpful that you were quick to respond to our questions, and personally show us things if we could not find them ourselves. . We look forward to many years in our new home, and know that when our family demands require a new home, we will be customers of {Evolutionary Home Builders}.

November 23, 2009 Re:  {Evolutionary Home Builders} We are highly recommending {Evolutionary Home Builders} based on our experience with Brandon Weiss.  Brandon did not come to us as a referral, we found his company on the internet.  Even though we personally know two other builders, to this day we know we made the right choice in hiring Brandon.  From the time we met him, he was a true professional in every way. Between us, we’ve owned thirteen houses and presently own four.  We’ve worked with many contractors for various home improvement projects over the years, so we are not novices.  On top of that, we are very demanding clients (a real estate broker / do-it-yourselfer and an engineer).   We conducted a thorough search for a builder for this home addition project, contacting possibly ten different builders.  Most builders were deterred by our detailed plans, but Brandon never once waivered.  He was completely committed to completing the job to our specifications. Brandon instantly went to work once we signed a contract with him, applying for permits, arranging the survey, procuring materials.  He let us know the schedule, when payments were expected, when material decisions were needed.  He helped us by providing brochures and prices for doors, windows, hardware, finishes and paint colors.  He was very clear about how our selections would impact the cost of the project. With breaking ground January 29th in extremely adverse weather conditions, Brandon was still able to have the project, including basement, done within seven weeks – well within schedule.  He was on the job site every single day, with a full work crew.  Never once did our project sit idle. We could not be more satisfied with {Evolutionary Home Builders} and have no hesitation in recommending Brandon.  Brandon Weiss is a rare commodity.

{Evolutionary Home Builders}built our home, we purchased it from an investor who left it sit for about a year before we came along. It needed some attention and had never had the 1 year builders walk through. Since we were technically the second owners We weren’t entitled to the original warranty but we contacted Brandon Weiss and he took care of all the issues and then some. We are so happy with the home and can’t say enough about Brandon. We are considering an addition already and for sure will call Brandon.

We first heard of Brandon Weiss in a magazine article we read in Wine Spectator magazine.  We liked his design and passion for performance.   Our wine collection is from all over the world, and we shipped our collection from Europe and Australia.  Our collection is a major investment so we wanted to ensure our cellar would protect that collection with consistent temperature and humidity.  Also Brandon’s knowledge of non toxic construction was important because we didn’t want our wine tainted with formaldehydes and other toxic chemicals.  Beyond that we needed a beautiful cellar that would show well in our home, and be a place we could show off to our friends and family.  Brandon Weiss provided us with the perfect mix of high design, superb craftsmanship, non-toxic materials, energy efficiency, and all with quiet operation.  He has lived up to his reputation and credentials, and offered us a one stop solution for design and build out.  We love our wine cellar, and plan to have Brandon do another cellar for us at our condo downtown in the near future.

We would definitely love to work with {Evolutionary Home Builders}, and Brandon again. He made the whole process go so smoothly.

I didn’t realize just how lucky we were until after the project was done, and then people started coming out of the woodwork with nightmare stories about their renovations/new builds and problems with the builders or subcontractors. I think they were hoping that we could commiserate together and fully expected that we must have had some negative experience during the project. I heard a lot of frustration and anger behind their stories.

My husband and I never ever felt that same frustration or anger at Brandon or his team. Sure there was frustration during the project, but mostly at weather hundred degree days that weren’t safe for workers to work, or snow storms which delayed delivery of critical materials. However, if there was something that wasn’t right and it was something that Brandon had control over – it was taken care of. Usually when I brought something to his attention, which didn’t look right – the answer was ‘It’s already being taken care of’. If it wasn’t already being taken care of – one mention to Brandon, and it was being taken care of.

Another great thing about {Evolutionary Home Builders} are the subcontractors that they use. I’ve had experience with a builder who I really liked and did a good job with renovations at the previous home, but the team was really just interested in getting the job done and moving on to the next. With the team that Brandon brought in, I found that they really took pride in their craft and work. That even though it looked good enough to me, they weren’t happy until it was perfect – for their own peace of mind. They took the time to make it perfect, instead of just getting it done and moving on. They worked weekends, Sundays, a couple even came in New Years Day to finish up so that we could stay on schedule. Not only did they do a great job, but they had such a good rapport with each other. The painter brought the carpenter a canning jar full of some kind of pickled mushrooms, and the carpenter made cookies and brought them to the site one day, they were forever joking and kidding with each other, but you could tell they all had a mutual respect for one another and that they had been working together on many projects together with Brandon. He’s built a good team. They made quite an impression on me.

Now that the project is done, Brandon continues to exceed my expectations. The house was warranted for a year after we moved in, and there have been a few bumps along the way – which is to be expected, as some glitches can’t be found until you’ve lived in the house for a while. Every issue that has come up – one phone call or email to Brandon, and it’s taken care of. He and his team are still very responsive – even though I know they’ve moved on to other projects.

In addition, Brandon has such a wealth of information regarding building a healthy home. To ensure that the air quality in this house is safe for our family, especially our young children, Brandon went the extra mile to find materials that would provide a healthy environment. He called in a consultant from the Healthy Child Organization. She and Brandon worked together to get us healthy materials, at a discounted rate so that we could stay within our budget. They found drywall that works to capture and absorb VOCs, break them down into harmless elements and stores them in the drywall. All the paint, stains, glues, finishes, materials used in the home are non toxic. It’s been a real learning experience.

Towards the very end when the cleaning crew were at the house, there was some very stubborn adhesive that they were having a hard time removing. The Healthy Child consultant had advised that the cleaning crew only use water and vinegar if absolutely necessary. They had soaked the adhesive in vinegar and it wasn’t coming off. The woman in charge said under her breath that she had some goo remover in her car, and even though it wasn’t non-toxic, she felt it was the only way to remove the adhesive. I asked Brandon what he thought, and he said ‘I have some soy-based paint remover in my truck, I’ll just go get it’. It was a moment where I realized that he’s not just doing this ‘healthy thing for the our house, he has really embraced the healthy home concept completely. He has inspired me to learn more about it and continue to keep my home as healthy as it can be. I threw away all my old cleaning products and am only using all natural, non toxic products in my home, and if I ever have a question about what to use for any specific job – he would be my first call.

You would be hard-pressed to find a builder that is as knowledgeable and passionate about building energy efficient homes as Brandon. He goes to great lengths to ensure that the house is air tight and built using quality products that won’t emit harmful fumes, while also being durable and beautiful. During the dead of winter (when the temperature was in the single digits and soon after insulation was installed) our house was being heated by one single space heater on the first floor; the entire house was comfortably warm. It was amazing, and it confirmed for us that our house was built right.

Brandon Weiss was the General Contractor for a Gut Rehab Project, which I am seeking LEED Certification on. In order to meet the parameters of LEED Standards Brandon and his team implemented a passive radon system. They install enhanced local exhaust system, which provides a set CFM of continuous air exchange and features an occupancy sensor and timer. Sealing ducts and vents during construction reduced construction airborne contaminants. Low Voc adhesives were used. These are just a few measures taken to improve air quality for the house. I would strongly consider using {Evolutionary Home Builders}.

The quality of the home is exceptional, and we had many challenges to deal with which he handled very very well. Brandon is a very nice person and we felt like in most instances he was looking out for our best interests instead of his.

I felt a sense of ownership from the employees and subcontractors, which made me confident that they would do their best to give us a quality home. It felt like they were dong the best job they could – not just for us, the owners, but for themselves, because they wouldn’t be satisfied with less. It wasn’t just a ‘job’ to them.
